In Portuguese the word “mira” conveys both “to look at” and “to target”. The work unfolds in two moments: delicate and translucent glass undergarments are worn and their effect on the skin is documented. This work arises from the tension between intimacy and visibility, questioning a social gaze that simultaneously demands access to the body and fetichizes and preys on the body that’s out of reach. Glass becomes a crucial material, exposing the paradox of this norm.
